What are the advantages of activating the JailHost functionality? What is 'JailHost', anyway?
In case you host multiple Internet sites in the same account and one of them is hacked, it is very likely that all of them will be hacked after that. There're several reasons why this may happen, the two most common are: using very weak passwords or using out-of-date scripts with widely known weaknesses. In this way, a single compromised Internet site can make a lot of damage to all your sites, as getting access to one script generally allows hackers to access the hosting account. This is the reason why we have introduced an outstanding security option known as JailHost. Once turned on, this feature will literally lock a site inside its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, all the other Internet sites in the account will be hidden. Thus they'll be shielded from further intrusion. The JailHost option doesn't imply that you should not keep your sites updated, but it'll significantly limit the damage.

JailHost in Web Hosting
In case you host your sites in a
web hosting account from our firm, you'll be able to protect them using the JailHost option with just a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The option is available with all packages and can be activated for every folder as the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have different folders, so that files for many different sites do not get mixed up as it frequently happens with other Control Panels. We haven't activated JailHost by default as you could use scripts that require access to folders outside the main website folder and this option can interfere with their correct operation, but shielding all of the other folders is very easy. If a protected website gets hacked for some reason, we will be able to restore it quickly since we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to view the available backups using Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of our
semi-dedicated server solutions come with JailHost included by default. This option is not enabled automatically when you add a domain since you may wish to use a script which accesses several folders in the account, yet you'll be able to activate it effortlessly from your Hepsia Control Panel and protect the rest of your websites with just a couple of clicks. Hepsia is much better to use for people who have multiple websites because it keeps them in individual folders and does not keep the files for several sites in the very same folder like it often happens with other Control Panels. This allows us to offer JailHost as all folders can be isolated from one another. If any one of your websites gets hacked, we can promptly restore it using the multiple daily backups which we will keep and meanwhile your attacker won't be able to do further damage because the access to your other websites will be stopped.
