Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is employed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one e-mail address, but to appear as being sent from another, often with the purpose to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a special record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers around the world have it. The record includes all the mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if the sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the specified domain, the email message won't be sent and it will be removed. In the event that you employ this solution, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam messages that appear to have been sent from you.
SPF Protection in Web Hosting
SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with just a few mouse-clicks. The feature is accessible in the Emails section of our amazing Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to enable it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers which will be approved to send email messages from your emails. As an added option you can also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party supplier. This option will provide you with the highest degree of safety, but it's not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain name are handled in another place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you'll be able to protect your emails by activating the SPF security service for any domain hosted in your account with only a couple of mouse-clicks. This is done through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous experience with these things, you won't have any trouble to enable the security. All that you will need to do is to select a domain from a drop-down menu and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. As soon as the updated record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be sent around the world only if they're sent from that particular server. When your email addresses are handled by us and not by a third-party provider, you can also activate an option for email messages to be mailed only if the domain features our MX records and the aforementioned would be the safest option.
